Sometimes people make me seriously reconsider my desire to be passive and neutral with their stupidity. I have no religion to speak of, but I am far from a god-hating retard. I am undecided, and as a result I try to establish a high moral base and try to believe in frilly things like karma. <--- Thats just to explain where my views come from, nyeh.
So; DeviantART has recently become a host of retards who...
- Draw fanart exclusively for the attention; now some people are legitmately interested in these things. But I've read how some people create polls and draw what gets the most votes consistantly. Seriously, if your original creations would suck that much in comparison, GTFO.
- Trace art, but the time they get called out they have 150K+ hits so they have a legion of blind, retarded fantards <--- I NEVER want fantards, there is a huge difference between a fantard and a watcher/supporter. I have that button displayed over this for a reason. My heart breaks knowing people have traced outright just to gain attention.
- People actually create dummy accounts to favorite their own work. The worst case was someone who created 291 of em. oO
- People change the categories on their artwork up to 12 times to manipulate the frontpage because of how it works
- lie about their age (as much as 12 years in difference) to display themselves as an 'art prodigy'. Man, I remember one time SuKo felt sad that a 14 year old was already adept at coloring and anatomy...only to have me find out later they were older than both of us.
I for one am happier than hell DA is cracking down on this shit. But onto the main part of this entry...
I'm not here for blind praise and numbers. Now, everyone likes attention, that is a fact. It's true for me, it's true for a lot of people. But theres just some things that really irk me about how things tend to go around here, and I really do try my damnedest to make an example of myself. You support me, and I support you in return. I respond to images I like in my devwatch, I offer suggests where applicable, everything I can.
Far too often I see people expecting blind praise, "cutely" exclaiming "omg why am I so popular" when they draw shittons of fanart, and NEVER responding to compliments, comments, even legit questions (trade, requests, etc. aren't legit and are fine to ignore if thats outlined somewhere in my book), and I mean...just wow. I know time is limited for a lot of people, but I respond to nearly every comment of mine in literally a 10-15 minute span of my day. I'm not the best thing since sliced bread by a long shot, but I'm churning out an average of 80 comments daily. All in that short amount of time.
I can understand not getting to every little thing; and frankly no one wants to respond to something as simple as 'awesome!' an odd-number of times. But seriously put some thought into it. Because people put thought into what you did.
Then again; theres people that get annoying with it (this is just my opinion and not an actual true serious beef with anyone), when they post on your page "zomg thanks for stopping by!" and "thanks for the fave!". I suppose thats just litter to me. Spend that time on people who gave you those awesome paragraphs of compliments and critiques instead of spamming the same message on peoples pages over and over.
In closing; it is an honor to have the attention I do have; without doing anything more than just being myself. I appreciate more than you folks'll ever know.
